Mount Everest Base Camp

In 2018, our fuel cells rose to great heights.. For an entire season, they supplied power to Mount Everest Base Camp. As the Himalayas are a sensitive environment, our customer required a sustainable solution to replace a diesel generator.

In 2018, our fuel cells faced an impressive challenge: they supplied power to Mount Everest Base Camp for an entire season. Given the sensitive environment of the Himalayas, our customer was looking for a sustainable solution to replace a diesel generator.

The two Sunfire Remote 400 units were specially adapted for operation at an altitude of 5,150 meters. They were integrated into a sturdy aluminum transport box, along with batteries and an inverter to provide power for a medical sauna.

Even at this extreme altitude of 5,000 meters, Sunfire-Remote impresses with its simplicity and versatility: The power generator is approved and certified for operation with propane and natural gas. The required LPG can be easily obtained at gas stations, hardware stores or from LPG suppliers.

The challenges, including extreme environmental conditions and demanding logistics, were successfully mastered. The advantages of the solution are manifold:

  1. Low fuel consumption due to high efficiency: Sunfire-Remote bietet eine hocheffiziente Stromerzeugung, was den Kraftstoffverbrauch minimiert.
  2. Use of readily available fuels and compact units facilitate transportation: The ability to use commercial propane simplifies fuel procurement and the compact units allow for uncomplicated transportation.
  3. Low noise level and low emissions: The solution is environmentally friendly and helps reduce noise and emissions in this sensitive environment.
